About Sydenham Road Under Fives

Learn & Explore

The SRUF preschool is open to children from age 3 years. In November 2021 we were awarded 'Good' overall and 'Outstanding' in Behaviour and Attitudes and 'Outstanding' in Personal Development by Ofsted and we provide quality Foundation Stage education. Committed staff members, employed by the committee, run the preschool sessions and provide the best foundation for your child's preschool development.

We regularly go for 'Wild Walks' to Arnos Vale Cemetery, where we have a dedicated area and Community space.

The preschool is a stimulating and friendly environment which benefits substantially from parental involvement.

For more information on the Early Years learning framework go here. Please also see attachment with information on the EYFS for parents/carers here.

We have been awarded the Bristol Standard, this is a self-evaluation framework which enables us to continually reflect on our practice and improve the quality and effectiveness of our provision. See link here for more details.

SRUF cannot run without it's committee.  The committee is made up of volunteers from parents and carers of the children who attend or have attended the preschool. The committee takes its responsibilities seriously and work with the staff to provide a child-centred service which is part of a wider community of care. The committee get involved in making decisions about how preschool is run, fund-raising, the day-to-day management of SRUFs and publicising the group. The committee meets once every other month.

Current Fees

Current preschool fees are £6.00 per hour. In most cases, the governments FEEE (Free Early Education Entitlement), 15 hours per week (universal entitlement) and up to 30 hours per week (extended entitlement) for working families, are available. The Administrator makes an application on the parent’s/carer’s behalf. However, you should note that the FEEE can only be claimed and used in the term following the term in which your child turns three. For more information on the Government's FEEE scheme click here.
